🌱 FDA Ends E. Coli Investigation In Yuma + Yuma Click & Fix App

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Yuma.

Good morning, Yuma! Here's everything you need to know to get this Friday started off right.

First, today's weather:

Cooler; breezy in the morning. High: 70 Low: 47.

Here are the top three stories in Yuma today:

  1. The Food and Drug Administration has announced the end of its investigation into an E. coli outbreak associated with packaged salad that originated from farms in Yuma and Salinas, California. During the investigation, environmental samples collected near farms in these growing regions tested positive for Shiga-toxin-producing E. coli (STEC). However, all were "different strains and did not match the strain identified in this outbreak," according to the FDA's March 2 update. (Food Safety News)
  2. On Mar. 9, the City of Yuma will be launching a new mobile app to streamline communications with city officials. Deputy City Administrator Jennifer Reichelt describes Yuma Click & Fix as an efficient way to submit non-emergency issues. "If you saw a pothole, or a broken stop sign, or a street light that was out, or graffiti at a park, it's just a really great way to communicate or contact the city," said Reichelt, who noted that residents can use the app to upload images or share details to "start change within the community." Locals will still be able to access the platform on the city's website if they don't want to download the app. (KYMA)
  3. Strong winds gusts of up to 41 mph tomorrow will give way to a cooler but sunny Sunday here in Yuma. Expect temperatures to reach the high 60s throughout the weekend. Get the full local weather forecast on Patch. (Yuma Patch)
