First, today's weather:

Here are the top stories in Yuma today:
- The Governor's race is heating up as Kari Lake visited Yuma and the border wall. Border and water security are two of Lake's top campaign priorities, which she made known while visiting neighborhoods and knocking on doors encouraging locals to vote. Part of Lake's proposed plan is to finish the border wall and expand the mission of the Arizona National Guard. Lake has also said she wants to empower local sheriffs to deputize Arizonans. (KYMA)
- On Sunday, drugs that originated in Yuma were recovered by law enforcement as they were being transported to Louisville, Kentucky. The drugs were reportedly discovered by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), which seized more than 11 pounds of suspected methamphetamine and 100 grams of suspected fentanyl pills. A Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Oldham County on Sunday at approximately 5:30 p.m. for a traffic violation. The trooper then discovered 11 plastic-wrapped bundles of methamphetamine and one plastic bag containing fentanyl pills in the trunk area. (Amarillo Globe-News)
- The Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area is searching for volunteers to help plant 400 new trees. The replanting project will begin on Saturday, Apr. 30 at 7 a.m. The organization will accept volunteers of all different skill levels and plan to meet at Sunrise Point Park located right below Saint Thomas Yuma Indian Mission Church. If you are interested in volunteering, the Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area asks you to bring your own shovel or gloves. (KYMA)
Today in Yuma:
- Virtual Event: Fair Housing Virtual Symposium (8:30 AM)
- North End Artists' Co-Operative Spring Member SHOWCASE At The United Building (5:00 PM)
From my notebook:
- University of Phoenix students pursuing an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) typically have to wait until they finish it and secure their Registered Nurse License (RN) before beginning Bachelor of Science (BSN) courses. But not anymore. With the help of a Concurrent Enrollment Program (CEP), students working on their ADN can also complete four upper-division nursing courses while completing their ADN. Join a brief live webinar to explore your options. (Concurrent Enrollment Webinars)
You're all caught up for today. I'll catch up with you bright and early tomorrow morning with your next update!
