The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Yuma.

Good morning, Yuma! Let's get you all caught up to start this day off on an informed note. Here's everything you need to know today in Yuma.

First, today's weather:

Sizzling sunshine and hot. High: 97 Low: 66.

Here are the top three stories today in Yuma:

  1. On Saturday morning, U.S. Border Patrol agents from El Centro Sector rescued an undocumented individual in the Imperial Sand Dunes. Calexico Border Patrol agents assisted the Yuma station at approximately 8:20 a.m. in locating an individual who was reported lost and in need of assistance. By 9:20 a.m., agents responded to the last known location, where they discovered five individuals who notified agents of a woman they left behind because she could not keep up with the others. After discovering the missing woman, the entire group was given a wellness check and no further medical assistance was needed. (KYMA)
  2. Yesterday (Apr. 5) was Arizona Gives Day, the state's annual event that encourages locals to donate to their favorite organizations. Arizona Gives Day is an opportunity to help local non-profits. One local organization, in particular, says this fundraiser is a huge help. For Achieve Human Services President and CEO Carol Carr, this fundraiser helps the organization serve some of the community's most vulnerable populations. (KYMA)
  3. As the U.S. Border Patrol struggles with the recent surge in crossings, miles of the border have been left unguarded. Near Yuma, Arizona, 90 percent of the Border Patrol's manpower is sometimes dedicated to transportation, hospital watch, and other caretaking duties for illegal immigrants. According to Brandon Judd, national president of the NBPC, these duties leave few agents for actually manning the boundary there. (The Washington Times)
