Here are the top three stories in Yuma today:
- Arizona bussed migrants from Yuma to Washington, D.C. on Monday. All of the migrants volunteered for the journey and none came from Mexico. The Arizona Governor reportedly plans to send the transportation bill to the Biden Administration. The bussing program will hopefully relieve the strain on local resources. (KAWC)
- The Yuma Police Department has identified the man shot and killed during an officer standoff on Wednesday. According to the department, Felipe De Jesus Herrera Jr. was shot and killed near Eight Street and Fifth Avenue after a burglary. The department shot Herrera after he refused to drop a machete. An investigation is being conducted into the incident and two officers have been placed on administrative leave. (AZ Central)
- The Yuma County Sheriff's Office is reportedly working with the Yuma County Recorder's Office to investigate voting fraud during the 2020 General Election. The fraud involves impersonation, fake registrations, duplicated voting, and absentee ballot infractions. The investigation centers around 16 different cases. (KYMA)
