  1. A traffic safety initiative launched by the Yuma Police Department (YPD) will continue next week. From Apr. 18 through Apr. 22, Project Drive Safe will be on Arizona Avenue and at an undisclosed secondary location. According to the YPD, officers will target speeding, distracted driving and cell phone violations, stop sign violations, and vehicle equipment violations. (KYMA)
  2. The Yuma Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) invite you to dispose of any unwanted prescription drugs on Saturday, Arp. 30 for National Prescription Drug Takeback Day. Residents can bring their expired, unused, or otherwise unwanted medications to the Yuma Police Department, where they will be safely disposed of. The free and anonymous service is designed to prevent prescription drug misuse and theft. (Yuma Police Department Facebook)
  3. As the weather warms, there have been more and more rattlesnake sightings across Yuma. To keep residents from any harm, News 11 spoke with the Yuma Fire Department (YFD) about rattlesnake safety tips. "Rule number one, leave them alone ... they got an important job to do in the ecosystem," advised Mike Erfert, PIO for the YFD. "Be aware of where you are walking [and] where you are putting your hands." (KYMA)
