The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Yuma.
Happy Saturday, neighbors! Let's get you all caught up on what's happening locally to start today off on an informed note.
First, today's weather:
Hot with plenty of sunshine. High: 96 Low: 61.
Here are the top three stories today in Yuma:
- Yuma police officers responded to reports of shots fired on Maple Avenue yesterday morning. Around 9:30 a.m., a shot was allegedly fired from an apartment, and witnesses told officials they saw a four-door white vehicle leaving the area. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. If you have any information on this case, please contact the Yuma Police Department at (928) 783-4421. (KYMA)
- According to the City of Yuma's latest Road Report, City Street Maintenance operations will require partial lane closures from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from May 2 through 8. Projects include slurry seal operations, sidewalk concrete repairs, street asphalt patching, and striping. Visit the city's website for the full list of impacted roads. (City of Yuma)
- How will the City of Yuma spend its $100,000 to renovate Desert Hills Golf Course? According to Director of Parks and Recreation Jason Nau, the first priority is updating the course's 60-year-old irrigation system. This update will reportedly help with water waste and line breaks. Upgrade plans for Desert Hills are still being discussed, though — and if the irrigation project moves forward, officials say it may be a couple of months before the system is updated. (KYMA)
