Here are the top three stories today in Yuma:

  1. Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents recently conducted a water rescue at a canal for two migrants who jumped inside. A Yuma Sector agent was notified about a call for help where two people, a juvenile and a man, had jumped inside of the rushing current of the canal. The juvenile was able to climb out safely. The adult male struggled to climb out of the canal and drifted downstream. The agent extended a shovel so he could hold on and get pulled out of the canal. (KYMA)
  2. Are you looking for a furry ball of four-legged love and affection for your family? Want to give back to the world at the same time? Consider adopting a dog, cat, or other animals from a local shelter. Facilities in the Yuma area have dogs, cats, and other pets ready and waiting for someone to take them home. (Yuma Patch)
  3. According to Athletic Director Jeff Welsing, Yuma Catholic has parted with former head baseball coach Curt Foppe during the first week of the season "due to multiple AIA violations." Judd Thrower, an assistant coach for the last three seasons, has been named as the interim head coach. According to Welsing, this parting was a corrective action and will present it to the Arizona Interscholastic Association's Executive Board at its next meeting. (azcentral)
