Happy Saturday, people of Yuma! Here's everything you need to know about what's happening today in town.

First, today's weather:

Warm; breezy in the afternoon. High: 89 Low: 56.

Here are the top three stories in Yuma today:

  1. A Yuma man has been hospitalized after being struck by ice while in Utah. On Apr. 7, Luis "Louii" Santos was hiking by an ice-framed waterfall in Provo Canyon when a chunk of ice crashed onto his head, leaving the man in an unresponsive and comatose state. Santos is reported to be "doing really good, considering how he was," according to twin brother Jose, but will still need to be hospitalized for weeks out-of-state. The family has started a GoFundMe campaign to help cover Santos's medical bills. (KSL TV)
  2. A Yuma native has been inducted into the inaugural class of the Collegiate Athlete Hall of Fame. Jacquelyn Johnson ('08, Arizona State University) not only earned seven national titles during her tenure, but also helped ASU earn three NCAA titles and two conference crowns. The induction ceremony is scheduled to take place on Jun. 6 at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts in Eugene, Oregon. (The Sun Devils)
  3. The community is invited to join the Yuma University of Arizona 2022 Alumni Scholarship Celebration on Tuesday, May 3. The event is hosted by the YumaCats University of Arizona Alumni Chapter, a group whose local fundraising efforts have awarded over $1.2 million in scholarships to Yuma-area high school and transfer students. In addition to celebrating the scholarship recipients, attendees can enjoy food and network with Yuma professionals. (KYMA)
