• Benton community supports food truck owner who lost truck in fire (foodtruckoperator.com) — Benton residents are rallying around local food truck owner Jesse Dorris after his Jesse James Foods trailer burned while he was returning from Little Rock. A friend launched a GoFundMe and raffle for Oct. 9, with Benton-area businesses donating prizes and fellow food trucks serving food. The outpouring highlights how strongly the Benton community supports its small businesses in crisis.
• Benton to install turf infields at baseball, softball complexes; tournament applications open Dec. 1 (bentoncourier.com) — Benton is replacing dirt infields with turf at Bernard Holland, Riverside, and Tyndall parks starting Nov. 1, aiming to finish by March 2027 and cut rainouts. Funded by a $750,000 local campaign, the upgrades should boost tournaments and visitor spending. Tournament directors can start applying for 2027 dates on Dec. 1.
• Beat Goes On 5K raises more than $13,000 for students, food pantry (bentoncourier.com) — Benton hosted the Beat Goes On 5K on Sept. 19, drawing nearly 300 participants and raising over $13,000 for Saline County medical scholarships and Saline Memorial Hospital's Food Is Medicine pantry. Organizers praised Benton Mayor Tom Farmer, sponsors, and volunteers for helping create a heart-health focused community event that supports education and local families needing nutritious food.
