- A 65-year-old man is dead following a house fire on Deerfield Boulevard early Thursday morning. Authorities say fire crews responded after a witness spotted the burning duplex around 6:24 a.m., arriving within five minutes and bringing the flames under control in another seven. The man was the only person inside the house, and the Bentonville Fire Department is still investigating the cause of the blaze. (KNWA)
- A conservation nonprofit premiered a new documentary about the Buffalo River in Bentonville on Thursday. The film was produced by The Ozark Society, a group founded in 1962 by Dr. Neil Compton of Bentonville in an effort to help save the Buffalo River from dams. The film can be streamed online for free at the Ozark Society's website and will also screen again tomorrow, Mar. 19, at Compton Gardens & Arboretum. (4029tv)
- The stretch of the Trail of Two Cities in Bentonville between Southwest I Street and Southwest Stone Boulevard is temporarily closed. Cyclists and pedestrians on the trail are asked to follow the marked detour route along the sidewalk until the trail reopens. The temporary closure was prompted by utility construction along the trail, which is expected to reopen next Friday, Mar. 25. (KNWA)
