Here are the top stories in Bentonville today:

  1. Bentonville City Council approved its 2022 budget on Tuesday night, which will raise the city's general-fund budget from $51.4 million in 2020 to $62.8 million. Increases are planned for police, fire, and parks and recreation, as well as a 5.9 percent cost-of-of-living allowance for city employees. By using reserve funds and impact fees, Bentonville will fund several projects in the 2022 budget including a $1.9 million expansion of council chambers to provide more space for the public.   2. A police chase near the Bentonville city limits ended rather quickly when the driver rolled and crashed his vehicle, leaving debris scattered on lawns at the corner of SW Caprington Street and Town Vu Road. The driver reportedly had multiple warrants out for his arrest and appeared to be evading police. He was taken to the hospital due to injuries sustained in the crash. (5 News)
  3. Bentonville's Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, a go-to destination for art, nature, and architecture in Northwest Arkansas, turns 10 years old today. Executive Director Rod Bigelow said community connection and engagement play a big part in the museum's continued success, and they plan to continue to bring different experiences to the Bentonvillecommunity. To celebrate this exciting milestone, Crystal Bridges has four days of anniversary activities planned for the public, which can be viewed on its website. (KNWA)
