A Bentonville girl shaved her head on Sunday to raise awareness and money for juvenile Battens disease. 11-year-old Valerie Schwimmer and her twin sister Natalie are best friends with another set of twins, Makenzie and Amelia Kahn. The Kahn twins have Battens disease, a rare and fatal genetic disorder. (KNWA)

A Benton County judge issued rulings Monday on several motions in the case of a Rogers man accused of killing a 2-year-old girl. 28-year-old Joshua Anderson is charged with capital murder, facing the death penalty or life imprisonment without parole if convicted. Many of the motions dealt with seeking to declare the death penalty unconstitutional; Benton County Circuit Judge Brad Karren ruled against each of them.(Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette)
