Here are the top stories today in Bentonville:
- Bentonville Square was the place to be this weekend for the 2021 holiday tree lighting. An afternoon of events and a lighting ceremony were held on Saturday by the Bentonville Parks and Recreation Department to kick off the holiday season. Prior to the 6 p.m. lighting, hundreds of people gathered at the square for ice skating, multicultural performances, food trucks, crafts and games, and photos with Santa. (KNWA)
- The Benton County Sheriff's Office offered appointments to local residents for car seat checks this Saturday. Deputies certified as car seat technicians were on duty to make sure car seats were properly installed for those who signed up. Officers encourage anyone who missed the event this weekend to contact their local police department for an individual appointment. (KNWA)
- The Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art (507 SE E St.) has opened a new temporary art exhibit now through Jan. 31, 2022, to celebrate the beauty of the ocean. The "In American Waters" exhibit features works created over 250 years by American artists who have been captivated by the mystery and power of the sea. Earlier this week, featured artist Kay WalkingStick held a virtual discussion on her work in the exhibit. Purchase tickets at crystalbridges.org. Museum members, SNAP participants, veterans, and youth ages 18 and under get in free. (Arkansas Times)
