Here are the top stories in Bentonville today:
- Last week, the Bentonville School Board unanimously approved contracts for architectural services and construction management services to begin designing and planning an addition to Bentonville West High School. The 430,000-square-foot school opened in August 2016 with about 1,250 students, which had grown to nearly 2,280 students just over five years later. To accommodate for West High School's projected annual average growth rate of 6 percent, the upcoming addition would include two classroom pods, according to facilities manager Paul Wallace. He noted that the School Board won't commit to the expansion until it approves a guaranteed maximum price next fall. (Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette)
- Bentonville-based Walmart is currently accepting applications for its 9th Annual Open Call event, which the company says is its biggest to date. This sourcing event is designed to bring products made, grown, or assembled in the U.S. to Walmart's physical and virtual shelves, offering American small business owners the chance to reach millions of new consumers. Applications for the two-day event, which will be held Jun. 28 and 29, will be accepted through Apr. 8. (5NEWS)
- Beginning today, Mar. 21, the northbound curb lane of Moberly Lane between Beth Lane and SE 8th Street will be closed daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., through Apr. 4, for utility construction. According to the City, signage and flagger will be in place to alert motorists, and weather or other unforeseen circumstances may postpone the closure. (Press Release Desk)
