Here are the top 3 stories in Bentonville today:
- A courthouse facility dog provided emotional support to an 8-year-old girl while she testified against her accused attacker during a recent Benton County trial. Prosecutors filed and were granted a motion for the dog, named August, to be allowed to sit with and provide comfort to the witness on the stand. Benton County Prosecuting Attorney Nathan Smith says he hopes expanding the use of facility dogs in this way will help more witnesses testify and ultimately lead to holding more criminals accountable. (Westside Eagle Observer)
- Benton County Prosecuting Attorney Nathan Smith announced last week that he will seek reelection to a third term. Smith was first elected to the post in 2014 and was reelected once in 2018. His renewed bid will be on the ballot during the nonpartisan judicial election on May 24, 2022. (Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette)
- Several new homes are on the market in the Bentonville area. Available listings include a spacious five-bedroom home on Ascot Court and a brand-new development at Brookside Estates. Additional information and photographs of the properties are available through Patch. (Bentonville Patch)
