Here are the top stories in Bentonville today:

1. Governor Asa Hutchinson expressed support for Bentonville Public Schools' appeal of an injunction that put the district's mask mandate on hold. A judge had recently paused the mandate due to a pending lawsuit filed by two local parents. "It's important for local school districts to have that flexibility in terms of public health and protecting their students," Hutchinson said of the appeal. (KNWA)
2. In Tuesday's Finance Committee meeting, the Benton County Sheriff's Office request to purchase body cameras for police officers was granted by the County's justices of the peace. The Sheriff's Office will purchase 85 body cameras and 60 camera systems for cars and other equipment at a cost of $633,000, funded by the American Rescue Plan. Major Kenneth Paul says the cameras are needed with the "increase in violent crimes that the Office has been handling this year." (Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette)
3. Glenn Thatcher, 44 of Bentonville, has been found fit to stand trial in the capital murder case against him, a judge ruled. (Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette)
