Here are the top stories today in Bentonville:

1. Firefighters have contained a large wildfire that had been burning since Sunday at Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area in Benton County. The fire had burned about 200 acres within a containment zone established Wednesday; all but a few of those acres were within the state park. Though the cause of the fire is officially under investigation, Piney Point Fire Chief Blake Ballou stated in a Facebook post on Thursday that it was arson. (Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette)
2. Walkers and runners are warming up with the Freedom Frosty 5k, taking place this morning at Lawrence Plaza. The race, presented by Hills Bros. Cappuccino, marks the fourth in the Run Bentonville race series. Run Bentonville is also partnering with Camp Alliance, a leader in military unit and family support services. 3. Benton County sheriff's deputy Joshua Pierson was laid to rest on Thursday. Pierson died November 25 from complications due to COVID-19. He served with the Benton County Sheriff's Office for the last 10 years. Before that, he was in the U.S. Army serving two tours in Kosovo and Afghanistan. (KNWA)
