Here are the top 3 stories in Bentonville today:

  1. An inaugural endurance bike race will take place at Coler Mountain Bike Preserve in May. The event organizers hope to bring community members and local businesses together by combining the racing part of the event with food trucks, a kid's zone, and a "vendor village." The race will take place on May 14 and riders can sign up for either 6- or 12-hour races. Volunteers and participants alike are encouraged to sign up on the event's webpage. (KNWA)
  2. The Walton Family Foundation grant will be used to help with improving Bentonville's Eighth Street. The Bentonville City Council approved the grant on Tuesday, designating the $6.6 million grant to be used for the construction of new pedestrian and bicycling lanes and reconstructed intersections to enhance safety. (Arkansas Online)
  3. On Thursday, the Arkansas State Supreme Court ruled that the Bentonville School District does have the right to mandate that students wear masks in class. Since the fall of 2021, the school board has required masks for students ages 3 through grade 12, with exceptions for eating and gym classes. According to the district, their hope is to create an environment that protects all students. (Arkansas Online)
