🌱Local Chamber Of Commerce CEO Stepping Down + Jail Overcrowded

Here are the top stories today in Bentonville:

  1. The president and CEO of the Greater Bentonville Area Chamber of Commerce, Graham Cobb, is stepping down at the end of this year. Cobb was hired for the position four years ago. He previously was the chief operating officer of the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce. Monica Kumar, incoming chairwoman of the chamber's Board of Directors, will immediately lead a team to identify the chamber's next CEO. (Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette)
  2. The Benton County Jail set a record with 751 inmates last week, which exceeded the jail's 669-bed capacity. Sheriff Shawn Holloway informed the justices of the peace of the record at Thursday's Benton County Quorum Court meeting that the jail ran out of temporary beds and had to order more. Holloway said 110 state prisoners were being held in the jail awaiting transportation to the Arkansas Department of Corrections. (Arkansas Online)
  3. Walmart is partnering with DroneUp to expand its commercial drone delivery operations to stores in Rogers and Bentonville, with the Neighborhood Market in Farmington already in operation. The three locations will deliver select merchandise in as little as 30 minutes and operate from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week, according to a Walmart news release. (KNWA)
