Here are the top 3 stories today in Bentonville:

  1. A groundbreaking ceremony for James H. Berry Park has been scheduled for early March. A statue that was removed from the downtown square in Sept. 2020 will be the centerpiece of the new park. The park, which will be owned by the Benton County Historical Society, will be adjacent to the Bentonville Cemetery. (Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette)
  2. Crews will be present along Interstate 49 near the Battlefield Boulevard overpass this week to perform geotechnical boring. The work will require one temporary, overnight lane closure that will restrict two traffic on two southbound lanes. Advanced warning signs and orange barrels will be present to help control traffic.   3. Bond was set at $500,000 on Friday for a man in Benton County Jail accused of fracturing the skull of his 3-month old daughter. Eduardo Martinez is charged with domestic battery, which is punishable by a prison sentence ranging from 10 years to life imprisonment. Martinez previously pleaded not guilty to the charge.
