Here are the top 3 stories today in Bentonville:
- The Bentonville City Council recently approved items relating to a bond issue passed last April, this Tuesday. The council voted in favor of awarding a contract to RACOM to implement a public safety radio system. The project plans to add a radio system to improve city interoperability and allow for communication on a shared radio channel across multiple agencies, manufactured under the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials Project 25 standard. - Wednesday morning, a tornado tore through Springdale, and the National Weather Service says it was at least an EF-2 damage level. Seven people were taken to the hospital and two were in critical condition, as a result of this extreme weather. Some instances of damage around the city include trees and power lines being knocked over, as well as structural damage to buildings like George Elementary and the Nilfisk warehouse. (4029tv)
- Benton County's Election Commission has recently approved some early voting sites for the preferential primary, and the nonpartisan judicial and school board elections, taking place on May 24th. There will be 13 early voting sites placed across the region, one of them being the Quorum Courtroom, located on the third floor of the County Administration Building in Downtown Bentonville! Apr. 25 will be the last day to register to vote, and the early voting will begin on May 9. (Westside Eagle Observer)
