Morning, people of Bentonville! It's me again, Sean Peek, your host of the Bentonville Daily.

First, today's weather:

Partly sunny. High: 71 Low: 51.

Here are the top stories in Bentonville today:

  1. An analyst is challenging the incumbent for the School Board's Zone 7 seat. Joe Quinn, 65, is running for his second term. Mike Swanson, 32, is making his first bid for a public office. Both men live in a part of Rogers that's within the Bentonville School District. Most school districts in the state held board elections in May, but Bentonville opted for a November election. (Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette)
  2. An attorney is seeking Justin Trammell's release from the Benton County jail because he was acquitted due to mental illness in June of attempted murder and other charges in a separate case. A Benton County defense attorney argues that a recent Arkansas Supreme Court ruling means once acquitted, a mentally ill person can't be incarcerated, monitored or restricted. The issue arose a second time recently when an attorney for Trammell made the same argument. Trammell, 37, of Rogers was convicted as a teenager in 1999 of killing his father with a crossbow. (Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette)
  3. The First Presbyterian Church in Bentonville is offering a food pantry for locals. The FPC Food Pantry is operating as a drive-through on Saturdays from 9 to 11 a.m. The church requires locals to bring a utility bill, or another local identifier, that shows they are a resident of Benton County.
