- As COVID-19 cases continue to dwindle across Arkansas, a local doctor says the region is now better positioned to handle any possible upswings or outbreaks than in the past. "With more vaccines and more effective therapies becoming available, hopefully, we'll be able to manage much better than we had over the last two years," said Dr. Steppe Mette with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Dr. Mette noted the next wave will likely be milder in intensity with fewer patients affected; however, the virus isn't going away completely, and "we can expect to see COVID in our communities for many years to come."
