• NYITCOM at A-State Receives Two Grants Totaling $3.7M For New Residency Program, EMS Training Initiative (jonesbororightnow.com) — Blytheville is set to gain a new rural-track family medicine residency and expanded EMT and paramedic training through Arkansas Northeastern College, funded by $3.7 million in state grants to NYITCOM at A-State. These programs aim to address doctor and ambulance shortages in Mississippi County and across Arkansas, potentially improving everyday access to care for Blytheville residents.
• Mississippi River mayors, including three in Arkansas, propose AI data center guardrails (arktimes.com) — Blytheville Mayor Melisa Logan is helping lead a Mississippi River coalition pushing for clear guardrails on AI data centers, as more companies eye river communities for new facilities. Her work with the Mississippi River Cities and Towns Initiative aims to ensure towns like Blytheville can weigh water use, utility impacts, and fiscal benefits before saying yes to any project.
• 2 killed in crashes on Arkansas roads (arkansasonline.com) — A 59-year-old Blytheville man was killed late Friday in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 61 in Mississippi County after his SUV crossed the center line, hit a guardrail, and overturned. Another fatal motorcycle wreck in Crawford County the same day underscores a deadly stretch on Arkansas roads that may concern local drivers and families.
