Fort Smith shares update on origin of August cybersecurity incident (nwahomepage.com) — City officials in Fort Smith say August's cybersecurity incident started in the broader city network, not within the police department, before spreading to some systems. They report that key systems like human resources, the Munis financial platform, and PayIt Fort Smith were not affected, and there's still no evidence banking information was compromised as recovery and investigation continue.
2. Southside student group advocates for more menstrual product accessibility in schools (rivervalleydemocratgazette.com) — Students at Southside High School in Fort Smith are pushing to make free menstrual products available directly in school bathrooms instead of only through the nurse's office. Their group, Fort Smith Students for Progress, has collected about 2,000 donated products and is urging lawmakers to amend Arkansas' Act 933 so access is easier for local teens who can't always afford supplies.
3. Singapore To Permanently Station F-35B Fighter Jets At U.S. Base (eurasiareview.com) — Fort Smith's Ebbing Air National Guard Base is set to permanently host 12 Singaporean F-35B fighter jets starting in late 2026, bringing more pilots and over 1,000 foreign military personnel here for training. Fort Smith VA Clinic VA Fayetteville Arkansas health care (va.gov) — Veterans in Fort Smith can access a wide range of services at the Fort Smith VA Clinic, from lab tests and primary care to mental health, women's health, nutrition, eye care, and pharmacy support. The clinic, located in the Baptist Health building off Dodson Avenue, also offers telehealth options, weight management programs, smoking cessation help, and online tools through My HealtheVet.
