Graphic Packaging International's Fort Smith, Arkansas, plant is smashing records. The GPI facility's large format Heidelberg VLF press broke the world record for converted sheets in 2020, surpassing the previous world record record for VLF presses by 5.4% in a 12-month period. Plant Manager Chris Krafft credits Brian Christello, Kevin Settle, Barb Stetz and their teams for keeping the crews on task, addressing maintenance items, scheduling the right jobs and building countermeasures when challenges arose.
The Fort Smith GPI team received high praise from Felix Mueller, President of Heidelberg USA:
"On behalf of the entire team at Heidelberg USA, we are proud to congratulate you and the press crews. This achievement, reaching the highest total impression count ever recorded in one year on a Heidelberg XL 145 VLF press, is quite a significant event. It represents your commitment to teamwork, process excellence, successful training and a high-level performance in a most demanding 24/7 environment with all crews contributing during a global pandemic! We appreciate the GPI/Heidelberg collaboration and partnership. We salute your accomplishment and thank you for your support and trust in Heidelberg people and technology."
