Downtown Little Rock library bookstore reopens in new location, 3 years after it closed (arkansasonline.com) — A beloved used bookstore run by the Central Arkansas Library System is back open in downtown Little Rock at 405 President Clinton Ave., three years after it closed. Library Square Books now offers low-cost used books and gifts, supports library programs, and adds another reason to visit the River Market area, with hours Wednesday through Saturday.
   

2. Additional $70M needed for 30 Crossing Park in downtown Little Rock (thv11.com) — Plans for a new 30 Crossing Park in downtown Little Rock still need about $70 million in additional funding, even after Jeff Bezos' $30 million donation. City and chamber leaders envision a signature River Market-adjacent green space, with phased construction starting once fundraising and grants ramp up later this year and into 2027, including money for long-term upkeep.
   

3. Little Rock officer relieved of duty after bodycam shows gun to suspect's head (katv.com) — Little Rock residents are reacting after bodycam video showed LRPD officer Thomas Shook briefly pressing his gun to a man's head during an August 9 arrest at a South University Avenue gas station. The officer has been placed on administrative leave, and Arkansas Stop the Violence is demanding transparency, more training, and a thorough investigation after no charges were filed against the man detained.
   

4. Arkansas maternal health leaders discuss access to care at statewide roundtable (thv11.com) — Healthcare leaders and Arkansas lawmakers met in Little Rock to tackle worsening maternal and infant health outcomes and shrinking labor-and-delivery options statewide. Officials, including Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, discussed hospital challenges, postpartum Medicaid coverage, and proposed Rule 311, which could expand services like lactation and doula support for families across Arkansas.
   

5. North Little Rock police arrest second suspect in deadly July gas station shooting (fox16.com) — North Little Rock police have arrested a second suspect in last month's deadly shooting at the Circle K on Counts Massie Road near Maumelle. Twenty-one-year-old Kendrick Norris Jr. turned himself in and now faces capital murder and other serious charges, while investigators continue seeking tips from the public about the killing of victim Najeh Withers inside the store.
