2. Little Rock's Repair Day invites neighbors to fix, not toss, at Southwest Community Center (katv.com) — Little Rock residents can get broken household items fixed for free at Repair Day later this month at the Southwest Community Center, which also features a no-cost swap meet. Organizers and volunteers will help repair clothes, small appliances, toys and more, plus screen a documentary and host food trucks, all aimed at keeping usable items out of the landfill.
3. Little Rock's Dunbar Community Festival returns Oct. 10 with a stacked lineup of fun (katv.com) — Little Rock's Dunbar neighborhood will host its 12th annual Paul Laurence Dunbar Community Festival on Oct. 10, featuring entertainment, kids' activities, vendors and food trucks. The event also honors the area's deep Black history, including Dunbar's ties to the Little Rock Nine, and will showcase a Senegal-inspired fashion show and local businesses like Yaba Yaba Boutique and Afrobites.
4. UA Little Rock Corporate Partnership Program Expands Reach and Impact (ualr.edu) — Working adults in Little Rock and across Arkansas can tap into UA Little Rock's Corporate Partnership Program, which offers tuition discounts, textbook stipends and waived application fees through participating employers. With more than 600 current students and 150 partner organizations, the program helps residents advance their education and careers while staying on the job.
5. Miss Arkansas State Fair Allison Frazier promotes service, pageant opportunities ahead of fair (kark.com) — The Arkansas State Fair opens Oct. 16 at the fairgrounds in Little Rock, and current Miss Arkansas State Fair Allison Frazier is using her title to spotlight pageant and service opportunities for young women. Fair ambassadors help promote agriculture, livestock, arts, crafts and youth competitions like FFA, 4-H, pageants and talent showcases for families across the region.
