October Parks & Recreation Commission Meeting - Masterplan Subcommittee - City of Little Rock (littlerock.gov) — Little Rock residents can weigh in on future park plans at the Parks & Recreation Commission's Masterplan Subcommittee meeting on October 14 from 10:30–11:30 a.m. at 500 W. Markham Street. Commissioners will discuss policies, facilities, budgets, and long-term priorities, and they're specifically inviting community input to help shape neighborhood green spaces and recreation facilities across the city.
2. Four candidates look to fill North Little Rock Ward 2 seat as Linda Robinson retires (arkansasonline.com) — North Little Rock voters in Ward 2 will choose a new city council member next month as longtime representative Linda Robinson retires after 24 years. Four candidates with backgrounds in firefighting, transportation, business, and nonprofits are emphasizing neighborhood strength, fixing flooding and food deserts, and cleaning up East Broadway's struggling car lots.
3. UA Little Rock Begins Second Century with Continued Enrollment Growth (arktimes.com) — UA Little Rock is kicking off its centennial year with more than 8,200 students enrolled and a 2% overall headcount increase for fall 2026. Undergraduate numbers and credit hours are rising, while the university invests in graduate stipends, AI and cybersecurity research, and new health informatics programs that expand opportunities for Little Rock–area students.
4. Do some state-approved ghost hunting at the Old State House Museum (arktimes.com) — Little Rock history buffs and thrill-seekers can join a $45 "Ghost Hunting 101" paranormal investigation class at the Old State House Museum on October 17, complete with instruction, hands-on investigation, and refreshments. Led by Arkansas Ghost Catchers, the fundraiser leans into the building's long, sometimes dark history while offering a rare, state-approved ghost hunt downtown.
5. Little Rock to host free Alzheimer's caregivers conference on Educating Across America tour (katv.com) — Little Rock caregivers will soon have access to a free Alzheimer's conference offering education, support, and on-site memory screenings at the Sheraton on Oct. 21. Local neurologist Dr. Anthony Davis and other speakers will cover early detection, treatment options, financial planning, and practical caregiving strategies to help families better manage dementia at home.
