• Results of visioning study for future of Race Avenue to be shared Sept. 16 at Rialto Theater (whitecountycitizen.com) — Race Avenue's future is up for discussion at a public presentation on Sept. 16, when Crafton Tull will unveil its visioning study at the Rialto Theater for the Searcy Beautification Committee. Residents can hear proposals on drainage, sidewalks, and beautification, and learn how the city might seek grants and state or federal funding for long-term improvements.
   

• #2 Harding football kicks off 2026 season Thursday at home (kait8.com) — Harding University kicks off its 75th football season tonight at 6 p.m. in Searcy's First Security Stadium, hosting Northwestern Oklahoma State. Local fans can watch the nation's No. 2 Division II team, led by star rusher Andrew Miller, defend a 24-game home winning streak and begin Roddy Mote's head coaching tenure.
   

• Larry Andre´ Evans, age 82 (anaturalstatefuneralservice.com) — A longtime Arkansan who was born in Searcy in 1944 and later lived in Sherwood has passed away at age 82 after facing vascular dementia. His family remembers his loyalty, adventurous spirit, and devotion as a father. A memorial service is set for September 12 in Sherwood, with burial at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
