CLOVIS, CA — One lucky Mega Millions player in California struck gold this weekend.

A ticket sold at Vallee Liquor in Clovis matched five of the six winning numbers for a prize of $2.325 million, according to the California Lottery.

Friday was a big night for Mega Millions, as a ticket in Texas matched all six numbers for a $361 million jackpot win. The numbers were 12, 24, 46, 57, 66 and 22.

Tickets sold in Michigan and New Jersey both matched five numbers and included the Megaplier for $3 million each and another four players matched five without the Megaplier, including players in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Washington, in addition to California.

The other three non-Megaplier winners with five matching numbers will each receive $1 million, but the Clovis ticketholder will get a higher amount because California’s lottery system is pari-mutuel, meaning both jackpots and lesser prize amounts roll back when there is a win and then regenerate based on ticket sales.
