2 Die When Vehicle Crashes Into Canal In Kings County: Report

A 10-year-old girl and a 66-year-old man died after the vehicle they crashed in became submerged, CBS47 reported.

KINGS COUNTY, CA — A 10-year-old girl and a 66-year-old man died after the vehicle they were riding in crashed into a Kings County canal on Wednesday, the California Highway Patrol told yourcentralvalley.com.

The agency told the outlet that a 45-year-old woman was driving a vehicle on Highway 41 at Quebec Avenue just before 4 p.m. when she tried to overtake a semi-truck in front of her but she failed.

Avoiding a head-on collision, she swerved to the right and into the canal, which runs parallel to the highway and the vehicle was quickly submerged, the agency told yourcentralvalley.com.

The woman was rescued and remains in critical condition in the hospital, the outlet reported. The girl and the man were later pronounced dead, according to the outlet.
