$4.2M Mega Millions Ticket Sold In California
A single jackpot winning ticket worth $1.2 billion was sold in Illinois.

CALIFORNIA — The third largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history was won Friday night as a single ticket matching the Mega Millions jackpot numbers was sold in Illinois. It is worth $1.28 billion.
Here in California, one ticket matched the first five numbers drawn but missed the mega ball. The value of that ticket: $4,234,962.

The $4.2 million California ticket was purchased at a Vons grocery store in Fresno, at 8949 N. Cedar Ave. If you are holding the winning ticket, here's how to claim your prize.

This was the second big win in California this week. A ticket from the Tuesday Mega Millions drawing was worth $2.9 million.
For the Illinois jackpot ticket, the estimated cash payout is $747.2 million. The gas station that sold the ticket will get a cash bonus of $500,000. It's the largest lottery prize ever won in Illinois.
Friday's jackpot is the second-largest prize in Mega Millions history. The largest, $1.537 billion, was won in October 2018 in South Carolina.
The next Mega Millions drawing is Tuesday with a minimum jackpot of $20 million. Saturday's Powerball drawing is worth $170 million, while the Super Lotto Plus jackpot is $11 million.
