5 Revelations About Slain California Family Members

MERCED COUNTY, CA – The wife of one of the victims in the Merced County family killings is paying tribute to the four slain family members on a GoFundMe fundraiser page.

The page was set up by Jaspreet “Jass” Kaur, the wife of victim Amandeep Singh, 39. Singh was found dead alongside his niece, 8 month old Aroohi Dheri, her mother Jasleen Kaur, 27 and father Jasdeep Singh, 36. The four were discovered by a farm worker late Wednesday in an almond orchard in a remote area in the San Joaquin Valley, California's agricultural heartland, according to authorities.

“This is the story of our shared American dream gone wrong; our loving family was violently taken away from us on October 3rd,” Kaur wrote in the fundraiser’s description. Money raised through the fundraiser will be used to help support the surviving famil members.

The Family Immigrated To America

“They worked tirelessly for 18 years to achieve safety, security, and community for themselves and their families,” Kaur wrote. Amandeep Sing and Jasdeep Singh supported the family, including their elderly parents.

They Leave Behind A Loving Family

According to the fundraiser, the family is survived by Aroohi’s grandparents Randhir Singh and Kirpal Kaur, Amandeep Singh's wife Jaspreet “Jass” Kaur and their children Ekam, 6, and Seerat, 9.

“Randhir and Kirpal were overjoyed in recent years to see their family grow,” Kaur wrote. “They were proud of their sons Aman and Jasdeep and cherished playing with their granddaughter Aroohi … They are left with a void in their family that cannot be filled.”

Jaspreet Is Now A Single Mother Of Two

Jaspreet Kaur is left to care for her two children, who she writes “cannot fathom why their dad will not return.”

Jasdeep And Jasleep Married Three Years Ago

Aroohi’s parents tied the knot in India and reunited two years ago in America after Jasleen Kaur immigrated.

“They were barely starting to make memories together as a family with their baby,” according to Kaur.

Amandeep Was ‘The Rock Of The Family’

“Aman was calm, positive, charitable, and always ready to help others,” Kaur wrote. [He was] a great dad who always made time to cuddle his son Ekam, read with his daughter Seerat, and treasure their many art projects and other accomplishments.”

As previously reported, Jesus Manuel Salgado, 48, is suspected of kidnapping and killing all four family members, according to the Merced County Sheriff's Office. Alberto Salgado, Jesus’ brother, has also been arrested and booked into the Merced County Jail on suspicion of criminal conspiracy, accessory, and destroying evidence, according to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office.
