SALINAS, CA — A man who fell asleep while drunk in the drive-thru of an In-N-Out in Salinas received a three-year prison sentence in connection with the incident, according to reports.

The case marked the latest of a long history of driving under the influence convictions for 33-year-old Carlos Alvarez, SFGate reported last week.

The incident occurred on June 22, 2025, at the fast food restaurant on Kern Street, according to SFGate, which reported that a security guard flagged down California Highway Patrol officers about the possible drunk driver.

The officers made contact with Alvarez, immediately smelling “urine, vomit, and an alcoholic beverage coming from within the car,” the Los Angeles Times reported, quoting prosecutors.
