CA Dominates In Ranking Of America's 10 Best Winery Restaurants, Taking 5 Spots

To determine the ranking, an expert panel nominated top picks and readers voted, USA Today reported.

The Golden State was well-represented on the recent USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice Awards Best Winery Restaurant 2026 ranking, with half of the 10 restaurants on the list coming from California.

"Nothing pairs better with a great glass of wine than a delectable meal," according to the newspaper.

"Many of the country's best wineries also operate equally extraordinary restaurants and culinary programs, where chefs and sommeliers work together to create the perfect marriage of food and wine."

To determine the ranking, an expert panel nominated their picks and readers voted, USA Today reported.

The top-ranked California restaurant was Bolero Restaurante in Temecula, at No. 2, which offers a tapas-style menu that the newspaper described as "a taste of Spain."

Rustic at Francis Ford Coppola Winery in Geyserville took the No. 4 spot, with USA Today characterizing it as "a quintessential Sonoma Wine Country dining experience where food, award-winning wines, and storytelling come together."

At No. 6, Mama Rosa's Trattoria in Temecula offers handmade pasta and has a brick oven for wood-fired pizzas, according to the newspaper, while No. 7-ranked The Restaurant at JUSTIN in Paso Robles has a Michelin star.

Roblar Winery and Vineyards in Santa Ynez, ranked No. 9, features cuisine made with produce from the winery's farm, USA Today reported.

The top-ranked restaurant on the list at No. 1 was Amaterra in Portland.
