Trader Joe's Announces 4 New CA Locations: See Where

The grocery store well-loved for its trademarked snacks and tote bags is opening up four new spots in California.

Amid rising inflation and increasing prices, a grocery chain popular for its affordable prices and viral tote bags is opening four new stores in California.

The Monrovia-based Trader Joe's plans to open the four new stores in California, part of a slew of 16 new nationwide locations the company announced this week, People reported.

The new stores are part of the company's growing nationwide expansion.

According a 2025 report published by the Los Angeles Times, the grocery chain plans to unveil at least 20 locations in 2026, several of which have already opened their doors.

Just this week, a Trader Joe's in Anaheim Hills announced plans for a Thursday grand opening. In nearby Laguna Niguel, the longstanding Trader Joe's at Ocean Ranch Village moved to a roomier location in the same marketplace.

A store in Costa Mesa opened last December and another Los Angeles location opened in June.

The Monrovia-based grocery chain's new locations include stores in Texas, Kansas, Washington, Arizona, Florida, Georgia and Louisiana.

Here's a run-down on the four new Trader Joe's locations in California:

When the company chooses to open a new store, it takes into account population density and draw, site access, traffic patterns and parking, marketing executives Tara Miller and Matthew Sloan said in a 2024 episode of the Inside Trader Joe's podcast, according to the episode transcript.

"This is very deliberate, and for us, what's important is that it's controlled growth," Sloan said in the episode, according to the transcript. "We have to grow in a way that fits our business model."

As of mid-October, there are 671 Trader Joe's stores in the U.S., according to data company ScrapeHero, up from 656 in June.

Nearly a third of current Trader Joe's locations — 208 stores — are in the company's home state of California, ScrapeHero reported.
