CA Prop. 41: Real-Time Election Results

Voters have had their say on Proposition 41, which would make it harder to pass new taxes in California.

Prop. 41 and Prop. 42 are essentially poison pills. Even if Prop. 40 passes, Prop. 41 and/or Prop. 42 could receive higher "yes" vote totals, which would kill the billionaire tax. (Patch Graphics)

SACRAMENTO, CA — The polls have closed, and results will soon start pouring in for the fate of Proposition 41, the ballot measure that would make it harder to pass new special taxes in California.

Prop. 41 would ban the state from collecting taxes that circumvent a 1979 state spending limit. Ironically, if Prop. 40, the billionaire tax, is passed, it would contradict Prop. 41 — and that is precisely the point.
