8 CA Cities With The Best Local Flowers: Report

CALIFORNIA — Spring has sprung, Mother's Day is just on the horizon and there are cities across the Golden State that have flower markets in full bloom to accommodate the season, according to a recent report.

Floral scenes across the state were ranked in Lawn Love's 2022 Best Cities for Local Flowers report on April 20.

"The Golden State’s flourishing performance stems from its national status as a floral powerhouse," Lawn Love researchers wrote.

The state is the nation's "Cut Flower Capital," producing 76 percent of all cut flowers, ranking only behind Florida, according to Lawn Love.

Nearly 200 cities across U.S. were compared based on flower quality, delivery access, vendor quality and local demand. Eight California cities landed on the top 20 cities for local flowers.

The best city in America that was identified by Lawn Love is Santa Rosa, located in the Bay Area. Los Angeles came in at no. 2 and Orange settled at no. 3.

"What are the odds that our best city for local cut flowers would contain 'rose' in its name? We’d love to say we hand-plucked Santa Rosa, California, as our No. 1 city, but this botanical bastion sprouted to the top of our list on its own, thanks to its numerous flower farms supplying highly rated local florists," Lawn Love researchers wrote.

Santa Ana was recognized for having some of the most flower shops per square mile and the most members in association of speciality cut flower growers.

Santa Clarita, Oceanside, Garden Grove and Santa Rosa had the highest average consumer rating for flower shops.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles was ranked for having the most flower delivery services.
