CALIFORNIA — Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday issued an order extending eased rules on recycling for retailers and other businesses in response to the coronavirus crisis.
The state is allowing retailers to pause in-store redemption of beverage containers, and suspends the requirement for recycling centers to hold a minimum number of hours of operation.
The 60-day extension aims to protect people working at those businesses as well as essential workers who handle recycled materials from being infected, Newsom wrote in the order.
