An Entire NorCal 'Town' Is For Sale

PLUMAS COUNTY, CA — Belden Town is seeking its next unofficial mayor.

The 4-acre property is for sale, priced at $4.75 million.

Situated in the Feather River Canyon, Belden includes private beach access, a general store, a bar and restaurant, seven cabins, two mobile homes, 18 hotel rooms, 16 recreational vehicle spaces, and outdoor event and stage locations, according to a website advertising the sale.

“… Belden Town offers infrastructure and character that would be difficult — and extraordinarily expensive — to replicate today,” according to the website.

Once a booming Gold Rush community, current owner Ivan Coffman also struck gold — literally — when he found about 50 ounces near Belden in 1970 after a flood washed off a gravel bar in the area, SFGate reported. Coffman bought Belden nearly 40 years ago, according to the Gate, which noted that Belden isn’t officially a town, as Plumas County has only one incorporated community — Portola.

The website for Belden Town’s sale instead refers to the property as a riverfront resort.
