Gas Prices Hit Record High In LA, Orange, And Riverside Counties
Prices of regular unleaded gas in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area rose less than a cent to set the new high at $6.46.

LOS ANGELES, CA — The cost of gas in Los Angeles and Riverside Counties hit a record high overnight – and Orange County hit its own over the weekend – according to AAA.
Prices of regular unleaded gas in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area rose less than a cent to set the new high at $6.46. Costs in Riverside County reached $6.33, and Orange County hit its record high on Saturday at $6.42, the association says.
The average price across California sits at $6.38, which is still about 5 cents short of the record of $6.43 set back in June.

According to AAA, the national average price of gas is currently $3.80 per gallon.
Governor Newsom’s office shared a Tweet addressing the rising gas prices Friday, writing “Crude oil prices are down. Oil industry profits are up. Yet... gas prices in CA have increased by record amounts. It doesn’t add up. We’re calling for a windfall tax so these profits go back to Californians paying for this oil company extortion.”

The post included a video message from Newsom, in which he the governor speaks directly to the camera.
“The fact is, they’re ripping you off,” he says. “Their record profits are coming at your expense.”
