These 10 Cities Ranked CA's Safest
See which Golden State cities have the lowest rates of violent and property crime, according to new security analysis.
Ten cities are considered among the top safest cities in the state, according to a new report by Safewise.
A new study examines the safest cities in every state in the country. The rankings from Safewise "are intended to highlight cities with low per capita crime and ignite conversation and action around how to make all cities and communities safer."
For the sixth time in the past nine years, the safest community in California is the East Bay community of Danville, a suburb in the Bay Area’s Tri-Valley.

According to Safewise, 60% of Californians say they’re highly concerned about property crime on a regular basis, the second highest percentage nationwide. Only 37% of Californians say they feel safe in the state, and 58% of California survey respondents said they believe crime is increasing, which is higher than the national average of 54%.

To become California's safest city in 2025, Danville reported 5.9 property crimes per 1,000 residents, compared to a state average of 20.84 and a national average of 22.89. It reported 0.6 violent crimes per 1,000 residents, compared to a state average of 4.24 and a national average of 4.43.
Property crime in the community has decreased in recent years, falling from 25.3 incidents per 1,000 people in 2024 to 20.84 incidents in the current report, which is lower than the national property crime rate of 22.89.
