National Donut Day 2022: Where To Score Freebies & Deals

CALIFORNIA — "National Donut Day" is Friday June 3 — meaning sweet freebies for Californians!

And whether you spell it "doughnut" or "donut," there is history attached to the day.

The first Friday in June traditionally marks "National Doughnut Day," a commemoration that dates to World War I, when Salvation Army volunteers, known as "Donut Lassies," traveled overseas — frying and serving the treats to soldiers on the front lines.

Throughout the Golden State, the day now is celebrated with specials at such doughnut shops as Dunkin', Krispy Kreme, Duck Donuts and Randy's. See offerings below.
