5th Annual Conejo Valley Days Outhouse Races Set for May 13

Three-person teams (two to push and one to sit) can sign up on race day onsite and take practice runs beforehand.

Participants in the Conejo Valley Days (CVD) Outhouses Races won’t need to build and bring their own outhouse this year. Racing outhouses will be supplied. The 5th annual CVD Outhouses Races will be Saturday, May 13 at Conejo Valley Days (Conejo Creek Park South, Thousand Oaks). The races are sponsored by Cal-State Site Services.

Races take place at the motocross exhibition site. Three-person teams (two to push and one to sit) can sign up on race day onsite and take practice runs beforehand. The timed heats begin at 4:30 p.m.

CVD will donate $100 to the chosen charity by the team with the fastest time.

“Outhouse races are always good, clean fun except for the grudge matches,” says Frank Akrey, CVD executive director. “Not everyone has an outhouse handy that they can easily convert into a racing machine so we decided this year to supply racing outhouses for everyone who wants to participate. It will all come down to speed, stamina and strength. Bring friends and family to cheer you on.”

Conejo Valley Days takes place at Conejo Creek Parks South (Janss Rd./23 Freeway exit) in Thousand Oaks. Hours are Thursday, May 11, 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. ($20 carnival ride wristband night), Friday, May 12, 5:00 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday, May 13, noon to 11:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 14, noon to 8:00 p.m.
