Agoura Hills Dance and Performing Arts Center Hosting Tap Workshops for Dancers of all Ages!

Agoura Hills, CA - Recent Winner of the 2015 Conejo Valley Happening List for best Dance Studio.
Betsy Melber, studio owner and artistic director of Agoura Hills Dance, now in its 18th year, is bringing three fantastic, world renowned talents to teach a weekend of tap workshops. Students from all ages, even the adult tappers, will be attending and all intermediate and above tappers are welcome to join!

Dates include January 23rd and January 24th. Please see details below:

Saturday, January 23rd - Melinda Sullivan Tap Workshop:

2:00-3:00 p.m. - Intermediate Level
3:30-5:00 - Intermediate/Advanced

$18 if paid by January 16th, $22 at the door.

Sunday, January 24th - Linda Sohl-Ellison & Monti Ellison - Master Class /Rhapsody in Taps
Tap Workshop and Bucket Drumming Class:

1-2:30 p.m. - Intermediate/Advanced Tap with Linda
1-2:30pm - Bucket Drumming with Monti - all ages and levels

$18 if paid by January 16th, $22 at the door.

About the teachers:

Melinda Sullivan: Melinda started her earliest dance training with our very own, Betsy Melber, and gained exposure to the best of the best in the tap world. She has since gone on and is now best known from FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance, Sullivan has a diverse career in dance, television, and theatre. After being the first tap dancer to make Top 10, Melinda went on appear as the first tap All-Star in Season 10, as well as featured in Chloe Arnold’s Syncopated Ladies in Season 11. Sullivan is the recipient of the 2012 Capezio Award for Choreographic Excellence, and she was named among the “25 to Watch” in Dance Magazine. TV/ Film credits include Glee, As the World Turns, 90210, The Goldbergs, Dancing with the Stars, and G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Melinda is a has also won the World Dance Award for Best Choreography of Television Episodic the past two years alongside Galen Hooks. We couldn’t be more excited to have Melinda back to teach at Agoura Hills Dance!

Linda Sohl-Ellison: Artistic Director, Choreographer, and co-founder of Rhapsody in Taps. Her training includes studies under the great tap masters Foster Johnson, Eddie Brown, Honi Coles, and Buster Brown. She’s collaborated with Gregory Hines, been recognized for her choreographic innovation in tap, awarded five Choreographers’ fellowships, a Tapestry Award from the Soul to Sole tap festival in Austin Texas for 30 years of contribution to the field of tap dance. In addition to numerous other awards and recognition, we are very excited to welcome Linda to Agoura Hills Dance!

Monti Ellison: An accomplished percussionist/drummer, composer and vocalist. He has performed worldwide as a soloist with Harry Belafonte, Stephanie Mills, Lonnie Liston Smith, Little Steven and others. As a dance musician he spent 15 years at the Alvin Ailey School in New York where he was head staff musician. Monti teaches African dance and drumming at Orange Coast College, Loyola Marymount University and Santa Monica College and has taught at many other festivals and programs in the US and abroad. We are very fortunate to welcome Monti to share his talents with us!
