Agoura Hills Houseguests Charged with Pointing Laser at Helicopter

Two men face charges for allegedly pointing a laser at a Los Angeles Sheriff's Department helicopter from the Malibu/Lost Hills Station.

Two people were arrested for pointing a laser at a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department helicopter, authorities said today.

The incident occurred during a Tuesday night ground-to-air coordination exercise with deputies from the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff Station, the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said.

The helicopter pilot said the laser came from a house in the 5300 block of Francisca Way in Agoura Hills.

Christopher Cooper, 31, of Lake Elsinore, and Tanjelina Meredith, 33, of San Juan Capistrano, who were visiting a friend at the house, were arrested for felony discharge of a laser at an aircraft, the information bureau said.

Their bail was set at $20,000.
