Agoura Hills' Ramirez Leaving After 16 Years As City Manager

Greg Ramirez left his position as Agoura Hills city manager last week, ending 22 total years of service to the city.

AGOURA HILLS, CA — Agoura Hills City Manager Greg Ramirez stepped down last week, ending 16 years as the city’s top staffer and 22 total years of service to the city.

“He’s done a great job for our community,” Mayor Ilece Buckley Weber told The Acorn. “We’re going to miss him.”

Buckley Weber noted that under Ramirez’s leadership, Agoura Hills had a balanced budget each year, built a new civic center, library and recreation center, and made over $80 million citywide road improvements. He also helped restore the Reyes Adobe Historical Site and helped obtain reimbursement for expenses from the 2018 Woolsey Fire.

Ramirez began working for the city in 1998 as assistant to the city manager and was promoted to city manager in 2004. Before that, the Thousand Oaks resident worked for the League of California Cities’ Southern California office and the City of Santa Fe Springs.

Ramirez expects to be sworn in this week as manager of the city of Camarillo, a job he looks forward to beginning in July. “It’s a wonderful city, and it provides an outstanding professional growth opportunity for me. It’s a larger city, larger budget and larger staff,” he told the Acorn.
