Lopez, Wolf Lead City Council Race: Preliminary Election Results

AGOURA HILLS, CA — The polls are closed in Agoura Hills, and voters will soon know the fate of the city council, Las Virgenes Unified School District's board of education and a number of key county races.

The most recent results from the Los Angeles County Clerk were updated at 3:35 a.m. Wednesday morning and reflect 23.4 percent of the county's votes. The next ballots counted will be a random selection of batches for the one percent manual tally that will take place on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 10:15 a.m.

According to the County Clerk's office, voters should expect to see more updates between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11. A full timeline for the Canvass Update Schedule is available at this link. The final results won't be released until December, according to the schedule.

Five candidates fought for three open Agoura Hills City Council seats as Denis Weber, Mayor Deborah Klein Lopez and Mayor Pro Tem Chris Anstead all have terms ending this year. Lopez and Anstead both ran for re-election.

Lopez lead early Wednesday with 28.65 percent of the vote, with Jeremy Wolf trailing close behind with 27.56 percent of the vote reflecting some mail-in ballots early in-person votes. Chris Anstead held onto the third spot with 21.97 percent of the vote.

"We did it!" Lopez said in an Instagram post Wednesday morning.

Four candidates also vied for three open spots on the Las Virgenes Unified School District Board of Education, and the local water district will also elect new members.

Angela Cutbill led with 29.29 percent of the vote, followed by Lesli Stein with 28.95 percent of the vote Dallas B Lawrence followed with 26.68 percent.

Long Beach Police Chief Robert Luna had a strong lead in the contentious Los Angeles County Sheriff's race, leading over incumbent Alex Villanueva. Luna had 56.78 percent of the vote Wednesday morning.

State senator Bob Hertzberg and West Hollywood City Council member Lindsey Horvath fought for the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, District 3 seat.

Hertzberg led Wednesday morning with 50.78 percent of the vote. Horvath trailed with 49.22 percent, based on early returns reflecting some mail-in ballots and in-person votes.

"I am so incredibly proud of our people-powered campaign to bring much needed change and equity to Los Angeles County. As we saw in the primary, there are still a lot of votes left to be counted. We are optimistic we will prevail when the final results are certified," Horvath said. "No matter what happens, I am confident our diverse coalition of supporters will continue to fight for our shared vision ."

County voters also weighed in on a ballot measure for county authorities to be able to remove a sheriff and a cannabis business tax. Visit this link for a full list of ballot measures in LA County.

As of Oct. 24, 14,928 people were registered to vote in Agoura Hills. 6,732 people were registered Democratic compared to 3,944 registered Republican. Some 3,247 voters were registered without party preference, according to Los Angeles County Registrar data.
