Climate Action Webinar Scheduled In Agoura Hills

On Monday, the public is encouraged to offer feedback on the draft of the city's Climate Action and Adaptation Plan.

AGOURA HILLS, CA — The City of Agoura Hills is hosting its third public workshop related to its Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP.) on May 10 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Agoura Hills City Council approved a draft of the ambitious plan on March 10. The draft is currently in Phase 2, the process of preparing the document for clearance under the California Environmental Quality Act, a law requiring detailed analysis and public disclosure of the environmental impacts of proposed projects.

The CAAP aims to provide a comprehensive strategy for tackling climate change. A 107-page draft report, linked above, details plans to reduce the city’s use of fossil fuels in favor of renewable energy, cut emissions, develop more efficient methods of transportation and waste management, and more.

  • increasing energy efficiency in existing and new commercial and residential units
  • increasing water efficiency
  • decreasing energy demand through planting new trees and vegetation
  • building new electric charging stations and electrifying the city’s fleet of vehicles
  • expanding bike routes and ride-sharing programs
  • expanding recycling and composting programs to reduce waste in landfills
  • promoting clean energy through incentives and educational initiatives
